BANGALORE ONION BAJJI

Onion bajji is a simple & delicious dish prepared by dipping the onion slices in the mixed paste and deep frying it.

Ingredients:

List 1:

2 medium sized onions, chop into round slices
2 cups of oil

List 2:

1 cup gramflour
1 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp rice flour
a pinch of baking soda
1 tsp cumin powder (jeera)
1/4 tsp red food colour
a pinch of ingu (asafoetida)

Method:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in list 2 in a bowl.
  2. Add water and make into a paste.
  3. Heat oil in a large saucepan.
  4. Dip 3-4 onion pieces in the paste, and fry in the oil for 5 minutes.
  5. Repeat step 4 for remaining pieces.
  6. Serve hot.
