BELE RASAM

Ingredients:

1 cup Toor dal
4 tsp oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 small tomatoes, chopped
3 tsp jeera
2 tsp black pepper powder
1 1/2 tsp ginger paste
1/4 tsp turmeric
Pinch of ingu
4 tsp of tamarind pulp
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
Few curry leaves
Few coriander leaves

Method:

  • In a large saucepan, add 4-6 cups of water.
  • Add toor dal, onion, tomato, turmeric and 2 tsp oil. Allow it to boil for about 15-20 minutes, until toor dal is cooked.
  • In other saucepan, heat oil.
  • Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, ingu, ginger paste, pepper powder, jeera, fry for 2 minutes.
  • Now add cooked dal along with water, tamarind pulp. Boil it for 5 minutes.
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well.
