BANGALORE CHICKEN BIRIYANI - METHOD 1

Our family loves various rice dishes, stirred-fried with various spices, vegetables and chicken. It does taste yummy and anyone would love it.
Ingredients:

preparation time: 40 minutes
Servings: 4 people - 1 1/2 cup each

1/4-1/2kg chicken
1 1/2 glass rice
3 tablespoon oil
2 medium sized onions
2-3 medium sized tomatoes
8-10 green chilies
2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
1 tsp biriyani powder (available in stores)
1 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 cup coriander leaves
1/2 cup mint leaves
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 ground cloves
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp lemon juice
Salt to taste

Required spices:

1/4 tsp fennel seeds
1/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
3-4 bay leaves
4 cardamom

Water quantity:

Add 3 glasses of water for 1 1/2 glass rice i.e add water double the quantity of rice.

Method to prepare this recipe:

  • Wash rice 2 times and keep aside.
  • Chop onions, tomatoes, green chillies and chicken.
  • In a cooker, heat oil for 2 minutes over medium flame.
  • Add all the spices, one after another, fry for a minute.
  • Fry onions and curry leaves, until onions become soften.
  • Add green chillies and ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add biriyani powder, cinnamon and cloves powder, garam masala and mix well.
  • Then, add tomatoes and turmeric powder, fry for 3 minutes.
  • Add and fry chicken pieces for 5 minutes.
  • Add water and salt,let it boil for 5 minutes.
  • Add rice and stir well.
  • Close the lid. Let it cook for 15 minutes, until rice has cooked.
  • After sometime open the lid and add lemon juice for taste.
  • Mix well.
  • Now it is ready to serve hot with vegetable salad.
